The Button Works, a historic Grade II* listed Birmingham gem dating back to 1872, is to be sensitively repurposed and restored to deliver 29 residential apartments.
USE: A former factory at 80-82 Great Hampton Street, built in 1872, is to be sensitively repurposed to deliver 29 apartments.
The Button Works, a mid-terraced three-storey, is to be fully restored with a viable new use, protecting it for future generations to enjoy. Plans will deliver 20 one-bed and 9 two-bedroom apartments and duplexes (3 affordable units), each set around two intimate courtyards.
The biggest external change to the Grade II* listed property will be the reintroduction of the building’s original dormer windows to the front street-facing roof slope, along with roof lights to the rear. An external gantry stairwell will also be erected within the rear courtyard.
The vast majority of works concern the sensitive internal conversion of the building – set to feature mezzanine floors, and the refurbishment of historic features, together with new windows and doors.
