GLASSWORKS

Glassworks is a distinctive and innovative Build to Rent development containing 300 homes within a 42-storey (133.5m), set behind Islington House, a vacant Grade II listed property.

Islington House is to be preserved, except for its rear, which will see post-war additions removed, with the building set to be repurposed into a community support space, with a wrapped glass platform delivering a café and exhibition/meeting space (total: 1,117sqm).

Rising behind, the 42-storey will introduce 300 (207 one/93 two beds; 1-4 person) rental units (20% affordable provisions), with access from the retained building.

(Materials: GRC pigmented red, metalled bronze cladding panels & glass spandrels).

Residents will also benefit from a rooftop terrace (326sqm), a sixth-floor space containing a gym, cinema room and workspaces, and 300 bicycle spaces (200 spaces & 100 Bromption lockers).

At street level, a new 750sqm public plaza is also proposed, in addition to 14 public cycle stands.
