CITY HOSPITAL WEST
City Hospital West has outline planning consent for up to 750 homes and 8K SF of commercial and community space, creating a vibrant and sustainable new neighbourhood.
Services at City Hospital will soon be transferred to the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Autumn 2024, which will leave a large portion of the site surplus to the NHS’ needs.
Reframing the site, family-sized houses and townhouses (2–5 beds) will be introduced alongside 1–2 bed apartments, public open space, and a new north-south linear park linking Dudley Road with the canalside.
Heritage assets, including the existing Infirmary Building frontage block, will be retained and converted into residential accommodation.
More than 50% will be ‘affordable’ or have private rent tenures, with the remaining available on the open market.
