Chester Road Station serves the Erdington, Pype Hayes, Wylde Green and Boldmere areas of north Birmingham (the last two being in the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield). The former London and North Western Railway opened a station at Chester Road in 1863, on the line from Aston to Sutton Coldfield which was built during 1862. The station became part of the Cross City Line in 1978, and the line through it was electrified by 1992. There is 6 trains an hour during the week in both directions, with half hourly services on Sunday's. Operated by Class 323 Electric Multiple Units. There is also a pedestrian entrance from Green Lanes and Marston Road.
