St Stephen's Church - history

St Stephen's was built between 1870 and 1871 by the architects Martin & Chamberlain in the English Decorated Gothic style.

It was a daughter church of St Mary's Church, Selly Oak.

A separate parish was assigned out of St Mary's Selly Oak in 1892.

St Stephen's was merged with St Wulstan's Church, Bournbrook to form a single parish.

The Church Centre used to be part of St Stephen's, became a separate parish known as Christ Church, Selly Park in 2004.

During renovation works in 2014 and 2015, St Stephen's was located at St Wulstan's Church on Alston Road, but moved back once the work was complete.
