Jack Price: Birmingham's First Marathon Champion
Jack Price, who ran for Small Heath Harriers won the first ever Marathon race to take place in the Midlands in May 1908. This race acted as a trial race for the 1908 Olympics held in London. After being selected for the British team, Price withdrew from the race after 15 miles in extremely hot weather.
