The Lock-Up, West Midlands Police Museum, Birmingham, UK - Fundraising

The Lock-Up at SteelHouse Lane, Birmingham was in use from 1892 to 2016. It now requires funding to be maintained as a museum and great example of policing through the ages.


The Steelhouse Lane Lock-Up is a Grade II listed building and is a great example of how a mini prison operated in a busy city centre for well over a century. To keep it going as the only museum of its type in England, it requires funding. BirminghamWeAre has stepped in to help promote this great cause and help with bids and fundraising.

West Midlands Police Lock-up Open Day

Between 10am and 5:30pm we are offering 1.5 hour timeslots to come and look round the lock-up and see some of our museum items and photographs. Between 6:30pm and 8:30pm we will be hosting an evening tour with some mini talks on Victorian Policing.
