Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery - The Gas Hall

BM & AG

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery originally opened back in 1885. The extension by the 1910s. The museum suffered damage during WW2, but was repaired after the war. The Birmingham History Galleries opened in 2012. Temporary or touring exhibitions use the Gas Hall, such as Dippy on Tour in 2018 or the Black Sabbath 50 Years exhibition in 2019. BM & AG was partially reopened from April to December 2022 after two years of closure. But is closed throughout 2023 until they reopen sometime in 2024.

BOM (Birmingham Open Media)

BOM (Birmingham Open Media) is where art, technology and science collide. It has a gallery and cafe, free entry. Open Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 4pm each week. Close to Birmingham New Street Station.

Cass Art

Colley Ison Gallery

Colley Ison Gallery Colmore Row

Small art gallery on Colmore Row. It was formerly called Reuben Colley Fine Art. It has been here since at least 2015. Reuben Colley founded the gallery back in 2010 in Moseley. They moved to Colmore Row in 2015. The business was rebranded in 2020 during the pandemic, while celebrating their 10th anniversary. The new name makes reference to the Gallery Director, Timothy Ison, who has fronted the business since inception.

Clarendon Fine Art (formerly Whitewall Galleries) Birmingham

Clarendon Fine Art (formerly Whitewall+Galleries)+-+A+Birmingham+Gem!

Was one of a network of over 40 Whitewall Galleries around the UK. This one opened next to Birmingham Snow Hill Station in 2012. A specialist in 20th century art. They have art and sculptures from international artists around the world.

Clarendon+Fine+Art+(formerly+Whitewall+Galleries)+-+A+Birmingham+Gem!

In autumn 2022, they rebranded to Clarendon Fine Art. Which is part of a network of 80 galleries around the country, including 13 on ocean liners.

The IKON Art Gallery is an international acclaimed contemporary art venue located in the wonderful Oozells Square, Birmingham. The Gallery is in a Grade II listed building located in the stunning Oozells Square in Brindleyplace.

Castle Fine Art

A network of galleries all over the country, this is one of two Castle Fine Art venues in Birmingham City Centre. This one at The ICC, close to the canalside entrance.

Artisan Alchemy is a contemporary gallery exhibiting bespoke fine furniture and Artisan Artemy fine jewellery. They occupy a renovated 19th century building which also features workshops for local creative businesses.

RBSA Gallery

The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists was founded at New Street in 1821. Originally based in a Neo-Classical building designed by Thomas Rickman, dating to 1829. It was redeveloped in the early 20th century. William Bloye made two bronze plaques for the RBSA in 1919. In 2000 they relocated to Brook Street in the Jewellery Quarter, now known as RBSA Gallery.

St Paul's Gallery

Art gallery located on Northwood Street in the Jewellery Quarter. They have art of band cover images such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Queen.

The Gunmakers Arms

The Gunmakers Arms

A Grade II listed building, The Gunmakers Arms dates to 1820, and was once part of the Mitchells & Butlers chains of public houses. It is now a venue for local artists and photographers to display their work on the walls inside, and sell the framed prints.

Digbeth Art Space - Custard Factory

Developed in 2016 as Digbeth Arts Market, Digbeth Art Space has grown organically since its establishment in 2016, developing into a collective art gallery, shop and market. They have a loyal community of over 500 creatives.

ORT Gallery

The ORT Gallery is now housed in the former Moseley Road School of Art building in Balsall Heath (restored in 2018). They were previously located next door at The Old Print Works.

Small art gallery on the corner of Avenue Road and Vicarage Road in Kings Heath, it is situated next to Kings Heath Park. They have been operating for over 25 years. They are currently operating an appointment only system at the moment.

An art gallery established in 1983, it was now one of the best known art dealers and consultants in the country. The gallery occupies the whole of a Grade II listed building called The Smithy.

The Herbert is an Art Gallery & Museum in the City of Coventry. It first opened in 1960. It had a major refurbishment in 2008. As of 2023, the museum is host to Dippy the dinosaur for three years starting in February 2023.

Dudley Museum & Art GalleryThis was the public museum and art gallery in Dudley, that opened in 1883, until the site closed in 2016. Some of the museums collections were relocated to The Archives on Tipton Road. It's opposite the Dudley Town Hall and Dudley Council House. Was Grade II listed in 2022.

Wednesbury Museum and Art GalleryA purpose built late Victorian art gallery in Wednesbury, built in 1891. It has a collection of Ruskin Pottery. Designed by West Bromwich architects Wood and Kendrick. The collection of art donated by Mrs Mary Ann Richards. A Grade II listed building, now run by Sandwell MBC.

Located in Walsall

The New Art Gallery Walsall

The gallery was built from 1995 to 2000, designed by the architects Caruso St John. The exhibitions on floors 3 and 4 change regularly. The collections on floors 1 and 2 are from their extensive art collections. There is also a Costa Coffee here. At the Walsall Waterfront of the Walsall Town Arm of the Walsall Canal.

Wolverhampton Art Gallery

An art gallery built from 1883-85 by J. A. Chatwin of Birmingham in Wolverhampton, a Grade II* listed building, it opened in 1884. There is a modern extension on Wulfruna Street to the back, also includes the former Municipal School of Art, built in the 1870s.

Bilston Craft Gallery

Bilston+Craft+Gallery

Bilston Gallery occupies the a locally listed historic venue. It was built by Frederick Harper on the site of Brueton House in 1905. They were local lock makers. By 1918 the premises was occupied by Bilston Girls' High School until they moved to a purpose built school in 1930. Bilston Borough Council had the idea of opening a municipal art gallery and museum on the site. It opened in 1937. It was renamed in 1999 from Bilston Art Gallery and Museum to Bilston Craft Gallery. It also houses the library.
