University Square and 'The Green Heart' at the University of Birmingham - A wonderful open space!

University Square at the University of Birmingham is a beautiful public space for staff, students and the local community to enjoy. It encompasses the Green Heart project.

University Square is located at the University of Birmingham on it's world famous Edgbaston Campus. It is between the Westgate and Eastgate, and north of the Aston Webb Building.

In the autumn of 2018, new grass turf had been laid in University Square. At the time you could only enjoy the Green Heart from the paths (until it opened in January 2019).

This trio of three coat of arms / shields was probably saved from the old demolished library. They were originally sculpted by William Bloye. And now mark the entrance to the Green Heart from University Square.
